Macclesfield go down at Stockport

On Friday night, one of the Bees' rivals in the relegation battle, Macclesfield Town went down 2-0 away at promotion hopefuls, Stockport County, leaving them in even more trouble near the bottom of league two.

Macclesfield were the only side in the relegation area to play tonight and they did themselves no favours losing at Stockport, in what was, admittedly, a very difficult fixture for them. They remain 5 points ahead of Mansfield Town, who are in 23rd place, but have played three matches more and 6 points above bottom club, Wrexham, but having played four matches more than them.

Macclesfield now have only 7 matches left and are in 21st place and have a real six pointer on Easter Monday at home to Barnet.

Stockport took the lead after 10 minutes with a goal from Jason Taylor and the same player added a second, a minute into the second half to secure the win for County and put further pressure on Macclesfield in their fight for league two survival.
