On Saturday, Barnet travel to Burton Albion to play the Pirelli Stadium for the first time. Barnet played Burton six times during the Bees' last stay in the Conference, winning 3 times, drawing 2 and losing once.
The first meeting was in August 2002 when Barnet travelled to Burton's old ground, Eton Park and came away with a 3-0 win with goals from Mark Arber, Junior Agogo and Mark Gower, with a fine solo goal. Gower had a hand in all three goals. Later on in the season, the sides drew 2-2 at Underhill. Danny Brown opened the scoring following a fine Junior Agogo run, but then Barnet fell 2-1 behind when, first, Danny Naisbett let a soft Darren stride shot slip through his hands and then Christian Moore put Burton ahead after appearing to control the ball with his hand. John Doolan grabbed a point for the home side with a shot from 25 yards.
The following season, Barnet won 3-2 at Eton Park, again in August, with Barnet's goals coming from Guiliano Grazioli, who scored twice and an amazing "5 yard own goal by Burton defender, Terry Henshaw. Burton's Christian Moore was sent off for elbowing Lewis Hogg in the face, before with Barnet 3-0 up, Burton grabbed two late goals in a barnstorming finish.
The following April, in the return at Underhill, Barnet needed to win to keep their play off hopes alive and were in trouble when they went 1-0 down in the first half. In the second half, Liam Hatch equalised from a Joe Gamble corner and then with time running out, on loan striker, Greg Pearson was bundled over in the area and Ian Hendon stepped up to convert the penalty giving Barnet a vital 1-0 win.
In 2004-05, Burton came to Underhill and ended the Bees' unbeaten record with a 3-2 win on and emotional night following the death of Burton manager, Nigel Clough's father, Brian, the former Derby and Nottm. Forest manager.
Dean Sinclair put Barnet ahead before Craig Dudley equalised for Barnet. Liam hatch restored Barnet's lead before goals from Talbot and Anderson gave the away side all three points. In the return at Burton, Lee Roache put the Bees ahead in the first half and dominated the match but were held to a draw by Darren stride's injury time equaliser.
Barnet last met Burton Albion in the FA Cup in 1989 when the Bees won a 4th Qualifying Round tie, winning 1-0 in a replay after the two sides had drawn 2-2 at Eton Park.
