In 1964, Barnet and Cambridge United met for the first time in the 1st round of the FA Cup at Underhill with the Bees winning 2-1 with both goals coming from Tony Harding.

Barnet and Cambridge United next met in 1966 in the Southern League Premier Division following Barnet’s promotion the previous season. Cambridge won 4-0 at the Abbey Stadium but Barnet won 5-2 at Underhill with two goals  from Les Eason and a hat trick from Roger Figg.

The following season, two Figg goals gave the Bees a 2-1 win at Underhill, but Cambridge won 2-0 at the Abbey.

In 1968/69, the two fixtures were played on consecutive days in April with the match at Underhill ending goalless and Cambridge winning the return 1-0.

Barnet won 3-2 at Underhill in 1969/70 with Les Eason scoring twice and Colin Powell the other while Cambridge won, yet again, at the Abbey Stadium 4-3 with Billy Meadows scoring a hat trick. At the end of the season, Cambridge were elected to the Football League.

The two clubs didn’t meet again until 1993 following Barnet’s promotion to Division 2 (now League One). Cambridge won for the first time at Underhill, two Geoff Cooper goals for the Bees not being enough to stop Cambridge winning 3-2. In the game at the Abbey, Barnet drew 1-1 with a goal from Terry Gibson, the first game they hadn’t lost there. At the end of the season, Barnet were relegated back to Division 3 (now League Two).

In 1994/95, the clubs were drawn to play each other in the Auto Windscreen Shield (now Johnstones Paint Trophy) at the Preliminary Round stage and Cambridge won 2-0. At the end of that season, Cambridge were relegated to division 3.

In 1995/96, Barnet gained a point through an own goal in a 1-1 draw at the Abbey and won 2-0 at Underhill with goals from Paul Wilson and Mark Cooper. The following season, Cambridge won 1-0 at home and Barnet won 2-1 at Underhill with goals from Linvoy Primus and Jamie Ndah.

In 1997/98, Barnet completed the double over Cambridge for the first time, winning 3-1 at the Abbey Stadium with goals from Greg Heald, Ken Charlery and Sean Devine. Heald and Phil Simpson scored in a 2-0 win at Underhill.

Ken Charlery scored twice in a 3-2 defeat at the Abbey Stadium in 1998/99, but goals from Marlon King, Scott McGleish and Uno Onwere gave the Bees a 3-0 win at Underhill. Cambridge United were promoted at the end of the season.

In 1999/00, the two clubs met in the 1st round of the Auto Windscreen Shield at the Abbey Stadium with Barnet winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Charlery and Frazer Toms.

The tho clubs met in 2002 when Barnet were in the Conference and Cambridge were in Division 2 (now League One). Cambridge won 2-0 at the Abbey Stadium in the semi final of the LDV Trophy (now Johnstones Paint Trophy).

In 2013/14, following Barnet's relegation to the Conference, the two clubs met again, both matches being drawn. At the Hive, the game ended 2-2 with Barnet fighting back from 2-0 down to get a point with goals from Luisma Villa and Curtis Weston, while Dymond scored for the Bees in a 1-1 draw at the Abbey Stadium. Cambridge were promoted to League Two at the end of the season via the play-offs.
