Barnet travel to play Grays Athletic on Wednesday in the opening pre-season friendly of the 2009/10 season in a behind closed doors match that will allow manager, Ian Hendon to look at a number of trialists. The Bees and Grays, who play in the Blue Square Premier, have met before on three occasions, the last being in January 2005, when the two clubs met in the Conference's GLS Cup. Grays won 3-0 in this 3rd round match in which Barnet's team featured youth team players, fringe players and a couple of trial players, Andrew Hodge and Dean Cracknell. The match was also notable for the debut of Joe Devera, who came on as a substitute.

The first time that the two clubs met was in August 1975 in an FA Cup Preliminary Round match at Grays which Barnet won 2-1, Paul Blackaller scoring both the goals for the Bees. In October 1988 the two clubs met again, this time in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup at Underhill and Grays won this match 1-0.
