Barnet and Brentford meet on Saturday at Underhill. The first time that Barnet met Brentford was in 1991, three days after their first ever league game. The two sides met each other in the League Cup 1st round over two legs. The first leg, at Underhill, ended in a 5-5 draw! Barnet's goals were scored by Nicky Evans (2), Gary Bull (2) and Mark Carter. The Barnet side was, Berryman, Blackford, Naylor, Horton (Lynch), Howell, Johnson, Poole, Carter, Bull, Evans, Hoddle. In the second leg at Griffin Park, Brentford won 3-1 to go through 8-6 on aggregate. Mark Carter got the Barnet goal.

The two sides met again that season in the Autoglass trophy, preliminary round. This was a predecessor to the JPT. Barnet won the match 6-3 with goals from Mark Carter (30, Gary Bull (2) and Gary Poole.

In 2001, the two sides met each other in the same trophy again, now called the LDV trophy. It was the quarter final of the southern section and Brentford won 2-1 with the Bees' goal scored by Mark Gower, his first for the club.

In 2003, the two sides were again drawn together in the LDV trophy. It was a 1st round tie at Underhill and a young Barnet side went 2-0 up against their league opponents. Solomon Henry and Guy Lopez were the scorers, but Brentford hit back to lead 3-2 before Liam Hatch in his comeback game after injuring himself in the pre-season friendly against Arsenal, scored his first Barnet goal to take the game to penalties. Brentford won the penalty shoot out 4-2. The match was Shane Gore's first goal for the Bees after signing from Wimbledon. The Barnet side that evening was, Gore, Taggart, King, Cumberbatch, Rooney, Lopez, Henry, Bai Mass, Hogg, Sylla, Roache.

Barnet and Brentford have met each other in the league six times in the league. In 1993/94, Brentford won 1-0 at Griffin Park and in the return at Underhill the two sides played out a goalless draw. In the 1998/99 season, Brentford won 3-0 at Underhill and 3-1 at Griffin Park. The Barnet goal was scored by Ken Charlery.

Last season, the two sides met at Griffin Park early in the season. New boy, Stevland Angus recruited from Torquay United, was sent off in the derby match at Brentford. Angus, who had a spell on loan at Underhill in 2006 without ever playing a first team game, was deputising for the suspended Devera. Stephane Seanla also made his first start in place of the injured Ashley Carew and new signings, Danny Hart from Borehamwood and Joe O'Ceaurill from Arsenal were on the bench. However, Jason Puncheon's spectacular goal was not enough as the West London Bees won 2-1. The match was to prove Angus' first and last game for Barnet as he was released soon after.

In the return at Underhill in February, two goals from Glen Poole were too much for Barnet, who started off at a blistering pace and could have been 3-0 up by half time, but failed to take their chances. A late Adam Birchall goal was not enough to rescue a point for the home side. The Barnet side was, Beckwith; Porter, Devera, Yakubu, Gillet; Adomah, Wright, Bishop, St. Amie; Birchall, Akurang.
