Concord Rangers are based in Canvey Island and were only formed in 1967. In 1985, they moved to their current, Thames Road ground in Canvey. In 1991, the club won the Essex Intermediate League and in 1998, the Essex Senior League but they were refused promotion to the Isthmian (Ryman) League. The club were then champions in 2003/04 and, subsequently, in 2007/08 when they were, at last, promoted to the Ryman League Division One North. In their first season, they were promoted to the Ryman Premier after finishing as runners up and last season they were promoted to Conference South via the play-offs, completing a meteoric rise from the Essex senior League to the second tier of non league football in just four years.

By reaching the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, the club went further in this tournament than ever before, having reached the 3rd Qualifying Round in 2011. In 2008, the club made the quarter finals of the FA Vase.

This is the third time that Barnet and Concord Rangers have played each other.
