MK Dons are managed by former Manchester United and England player, Paul Ince who started his managerial career last season at fellow League Two side, Macclesfield Town, turning their season around after a dreadful start and assuring the club their league place. In the summer he replaced former Barnet manager, Martin Allen, at MK Dons.

The Dons are runaway League Two leaders this season with 57 points from 25 matches, 11 points ahead of 2nd placed Hereford. They are also through to the Southern area final of the JPT after having defeated Gillingham on penalties in midweek.

Last season the match at Underhill, in September, ended in a 3-3 draw after the Bees had led 3-1 early in the 2nd half. Barnet goals came from Ian Hendon, Richard Graham and Tresor Kandol. The return match in January ended in a 3-1 win for MK Dons. Simon King scored for Barnet who had both Ian Hendon and Dean Sinclair sent off in controversial circumstances.
