Bees v Mariners!!!
Last updated : 24 November 2007 By Jaybee
This Saturday, the Bees entertain League Two strugglers, Grimsby Town, who are currently 22nd in the table with just 11 points from 16 matches. However, Barnet have never as much as won a single point against the Mariners in four previous meetings between the two clubs. In fact they have not yet scored a single goal!!! Let's hope that tomorrow's game changes that poor record.
Grimsby are managed by Alan Buckley who is in his third spell as manager at the club. He took over at Blundell Park last November, shortly before Grimsby's 1-0 win at Underhill. The mariners have gone eight league matches without a win but shocked League One pacesetters Carlisle United, on Tuesday, by knocking them out of the FA Cup with a Danny North goal the only goal of the match.
Grimsby have a number of injury problems. Martin Butler, Paul Bolland and Justin whittle will all miss the trip to Barnet as well as Danny Boshell, who is suspended. Goalkeeper, Phil Barnes is doubtful and Gary Montgomery stands by after an outstanding performance in midweek against Carlisle. However, striker Isaiah Rankin could be back after illness, while manager, Alan Buckley must decide whether or not to give new loan signings, Sam Hird and Robert Atkinson their first starts for Grimsby.
For Barnet, Josh Wright is expected to return to the side after missing last Saturday's match at Shrewsbury, while Ashley Carew returns after suspension. Sagi Burton is doubtful, so Joe O'Cearuill stands by. O'Cearuill returns after international duty with the Republic Of Ireland under 21 side, where he played against Montenegro and Bulgaria.
