Paul Fairclough's Bees and John Ward's Cheltenham Town face off for the first time since 2001 on Friday at Whaddon Road. The last time the sides met was at Underhill on April 7th 2001 in the Bees relegation season. The Bees had lost the game at Whaddon Road in Tony Cottee's Third game as Barnet manager. The score was 4-3 Darren Currie, Omar Riza on loan from West Ham and the wanker himself Cottee got the Bees goals. This time though the Bees got a point a penalty from Darren Currie and a Ben Strevens goal gave the Bees a 2-2 draw at Underhill infront of a very poor attendance 1,977. After that draw the Bees were 20th with 42 points from 41 games and 5 points safe of relegation but at the end of the season well we all know what happened and let us never mention it again...............
But this time the Bees are in 7th and Cheltenham Town are in 5th with both teams making a good start to the season. Where Cheltenham Town have drawn there last two games against London opponents drawing at home to Orient 1-1 and 0-0 at Wycombe.
