Liam Hatch to make farewell appearance?

This Saturday, Barnet welcome the Spirites, Chesterfield, to Underhill. Chesterfield are currently sixth in the League Two table having taken 37 points from 21 matches. On Boxing Day, they won 1-0 at Bury. Earlier in the season, the Bees won 1-0 at Saltergate with a Jason Norville goal.

Barnet will be without Ismail Yakubu who serves a one match suspension after his red card against Dagenham & Redbridge. Joe O'Ceaurill returns to the side to replace him after missing the Boxing Day match. Liam Hatch is expected to play his last match for the club before his move to Peterborough United in a £150,000 deal. Cliff Akarung, Barnet's new 6ft 2" striker from Histon is not available until the new year.

Midfield player, Felix Bastians is available for Chesterfield after having recoverd from a knock, but Jamie Ward is a doubt.

Chesterfield are managed by Lee Richardson who had a much travelled career as a player, including Watford, Blackburn and Aberdeen in his clubs. He took over as manager at the Derbyshire club in March of this year, having had an earlier spell as caretaker manager in 2003.

In goal is former Nottingham Forest keeper, Barry Roche who joined Chesterfield in 2005 after making 10 first team appearances for Forest and has been a regular for the last two seasons.

Former Manchester United youngster, Phil Picken, joined Chesterfield last summer after having spent the previous season on loan from United. He has been a regular for the past two seasons. Left back, Gregor Robertson joined Chesterfield in the summer and has first team experience with Rotherham and Nottm. Forest. At centre back is 35 year old, former Huddersfield Town player, Kevin Gray, who joined the Saltergate club from Carlisle United in the summer. He made over 300 appearances for Huddersfield and has made over 500 first team starts in his long career. Alongside him is Hungarian, Janos Kovacs, who arrived from MTK in Budapest, but found it hard at first to break into the first team and was loaned out to York City last season. However, he has started this season as first choice centre back along with Gray. 20 year old full back, Jamie Lowry has also made a number of first team appearances this season after making his debut last term. He is a product of the youth system.

Derek Niven joined the club, initially on loan, from Scottish club, Raith Rovers in December 2003 and made the move permanent the following month and has since made over 150 appearances for Chesterfield. Left sided midfielder, Peter Leven played for Kilmarnock in the 2007 Scottish League Cup Final, but moved south for the chance to play in English football and signed for Chesterfield in August, having made over 50 SPL appearances for Kilmarnock.

Alan O'Hare, normally a defender, has also played in midfield. He signed from Bolton Wanderers, initially on loan, in January 2002, signing permanently in September of the same year and has played over 100 times for Chesterfield. Teenager, Ben Algar made his full debut in the recent 3-1 home victory over Bury. Another player who has arrived from the SPL is Jamie Winter who started his career at Glasgow Rangers and later played for St.Johnstone as well as Leeds, before moving to Aberdeen where he made in over 20 first team games before moving to Saltergate this summer. German winger, Felix Bastians is on loan from Nottingham Forest. Nicky Travis is on loan from Sheffield United .

Chesterfield have an experienced strike force in Steve Fletcher and Jack Lester. 35 year old Fletcher was signed from Bournemouth in the summer having scored 88 goals in 448 league starts for the Cherries. Lester also arrived in the summer after being released by Nottm. Forest where he scored 34 goals in 115 league starts during two spells there. He has also played for Grimsby Town, Doncaster and Sheffield United. Chesterfield have also signed 19 year old striker, Adam Rooney on a four month loan from Stoke City, where he has made a handful of first team appearances including being the youngest Stoke player to score a first team hat trick at 18 against Brighton.
