MATCH PREVIEW: Cheltenham Town

Last updated : 24 November 2009 By Jaybee

Barnet travel to the West Country tonight to meet Cheltenham Town at Whaddon road in a League Two fixture. The Bees will be keen to get back to winning ways in the league after only taking two pints from their last three league matches and having lost their last four away matches in the league.

Cheltenham are just two places off of the bottom two and have not won in 11 league matches, so the Bees will be looking to get something from this match following four difficult away matches against sides all in the top half of the table. Cheltenham, and former Barnet, boss, Martin Allen is on ‘gardening leave’ still and therefore former Lincoln manager, John Schofield is in charge of the Robins until the situation is resolved.

Cheltenham have won just one league match all season at Whaddon Road and have lost four of their eight matches so far. The Robins have some experienced players such as their strike partnership of two much travelled players, Barry Hayles and Justin Richards.

Barnet have no further injury problems following on from Saturday and Ismail Yakubu, who it was feared might not be able to play tonight, is fit to continue alongside Daniel Leach at the centre of the defence.

Meanwhile, Cheltenham will be without Lee Ridley, Shane Duff and former Barnet loan player, Michael Townsend who are all injured. Goalkeeper, Barry Richardson is suspended.

With the Bees back to form in their performance, if not the result, against Port Vale, Barnet should be too strong for a side low on confidence and in freefall and Barnet Mad is predicting a return to winning away from home for the Bees, possibly by 2-0.
