MATCH PREVIEW: Torquay United

Last updated : 26 January 2010 By Jaybee

Barnet meet Torquay United in what is being termed a six pointer, even though the season is only just over half way through. Barnet have now taken just points from their last eleven league matches after their 2-1 away defeat at Morecambe, their seventh away defeat in a row. The Bees last won at home to Darlington back in October. Torquay are 21st in the table, just three points below Barnet and last Saturday they let a 2-0 lead slip at home to Burton Albion, finally losing 3-2.

Torquay have lost their last three league matches but prior to that they beat Darlington 5-0, at home and Hereford 1-0, also at Plainmoor. The Gulls have won just one out of twelve away matches in the league this season, losing seven, but Barnet have lost two out of their last three matches at Underhill, so the Gulls may see this match as a real chance to pull clear from the bottom of the table. Earlier in the season, a somewhat fluky, Albert Adomah goal direct from a free kick gave the Bees a 1-0 win at Plainmoor, their first away win of the season.

Barnet will have Ismail Yakubu back after missing the Morecambe match through injury and he is likely to replace Daniel Leach at the back. Skipper, Micah Hyde could also start on the bench after being substituted at Christie Park with Albert Adomah likely to start and Mark Hughes and Lee Sawyer starting in the central midfield.

Winger, Wayne Carlisle, who missed the match against Burton at the weekend, faces a late fitness test for the visitors and manager, Paul Buckle may name an unchanged side.

Tonight’s match is a vital one for the Bees and they need to win to kick start their season and start climbing the table having slipped into free fall in the last couple of months. However, little is going right for the Bees at the moment and Barnet mad is only predicting a draw tonight, probably 1-1.
