Ashley Carew is released by the Bees

Barnet have released winger, Ashley Carew. His contract was terminated by mutual consent. Carew had been on loan with Blue Square South club, Eastleigh but was recalled early to discuss his future. Manager, Ian Hendon told Carew that he was not in his plans. Carew, who signed for the Bees in the summer of 2007, made 37 first team appearances for the Bees plus another 16 appearances as a substitute. He scored two goals; one at Stockport last season and the other at home to Chesterfield on the opening day of the season.

Carew is the third player to be released by Hendon since he became manager following the release of Ryan Burge and Kieron St. Amie. Hendon also released Tommy Black after signing him on a short term contract.

Meanwhile, Elliott Charles scored in a 'reserve' game at Dagenham & Redbridge yesterday. The daggers won 2-1. Joe Tabiri who has returned from his loan spell at Grays also featured as did Luke Medley, Kenny Gillet, Cliff Akurang and Michael Leary.
