The Bees first home game this season sees them take on their former Conference rivals, Hereford United, who won promotion back to the Football League, one year after Barnet's promotion in 2005.

Hereford started their league season with a goalless home draw against Rotherham United, but come to Underhill on the back of a tremendous 4-1 Carling Cup 1st round victory over Yoevil Town, who made the League 1 Play 0ff final last season. New boys Lionel Ainsworth, with a hat trick and Clint Easton scored the goals for the Bulls.

Last season, in this fixture, Barnet gained their first win of the season by 3-0 with goals from Grazioli, Bailey and Puncheon. Hereford won the return at Edgar Street 2-0.

Hereford's squad:

Like Barnet, the Bulls have made a number of new signings during the summer and there line up will have a very unfamiliar look to it. One player remaining from last season is goalkeeper, Wayne Brown. The former Chester City keeper, returned to the side for the win over Yoevil after injury kept him out last Saturday. Hereford have signed former Yoevil keeper, Chris Weale on loan from Bristol City, but his club might have to recall him because of injury problems at the club.

In defence, three players remain from last season, two former Gillingham players; Dean Beckwith and Richard Rose and Australian youngster, Trent McClenahan, who signed from West Ham last summer. Centre half, John McCombe signed from Huddersfield Town and the experienced former Bournemouth player, Karl Broadhurst arrived in the summer.

In midfield, new boy Lionel Ainsworth, signed in the summer from Derby County, has already made a huge impact with his midweek hat trick against Yoevil. The other goal was scored by another new signing, former Watford, Norwich and Wycombe player, Clint Easton, who was another player signed from Gillingham. Toumani Diagouraga has been signed on loan from Watford until the end of December along with 18 year old striker, Theo Robinson who made his first start against Yoevil. Ben Smith, in his second spell at the club will probably complete a four man midfield, though there may be a place for former Walsall player, Kris Taylor.

Up front, former Coventry City, Leicester and Peterborough striker, Trevor Benjamin, who ended last season on loan at Walsall, signed in the summer along with Theo Robinson and ex Leeds United and Darlington man, Simon Johnson, who has signed on a short term contract. Steve Guinan, who scored a hat trick for the Bulls in their 4-0 win over the Bees at Edgar Street 5 years ago, is like Ben Smith, in his second spell at the club. Guinan finished last season back at Hereford on loan from Cheltenham Town and completed his return to Edgar Street in the summer.

Expected line up for Saturday: Brown; McClenahan, Beckwith, Broadhurst, Rose; Ainsworth, Smith, Diagouraga, Easton; Benjamin, Robinson.
