Barnet’s top scorer, John O’Flynn is expected to be fir for Saturday’s home match against Macclesfield Town, according to the Barnet Times, but manager, Ian Hendon says that the Irishman’s return to fitness will provide him with a selection headache following the fine performances of Paul Furlong and Jake Hyde in Monday’s 3-1 win over Chesterfield. Furlong gave, perhaps, his best performance of the season and, with his second goal, a cracking acrobatic volley, he may well end up winning the supporters’ club, goal of the season award.
Hendon was pleased too with Hyde’s performance. The young, former Swindon Town striker gave one of his best showings in a Barnet shirt and Hendon described him as a lad with ‘potential’.
Hendon confirmed too that New Zealand international, Chris James, who came on late as a substitute on Monday, has signed for the rest of the season. James has been told by New Zealand that he needs to be playing regularly if he wants to be considered for the squad for South Africa to play in this summer’s World Cup.
