Barnet's Conference Championship Winning Side

Last updated : 12 September 2007 By Jaybee

The Conference Championship winning side of 2004 -05 was surely one of the most memorable sides in recent Barnet history, maybe since the last Barnet side won the Conference in 1991. So what has happened since to the players that brought all the Bees fans so much joy as the club regained the Football League place that they lost 4 years earlier?

Starting with goalkeeper, Scott Tynan; he left to join Rushden and Diamonds the following January for £10,000 after being kept out of the first team by Ross Flitney, who had joined from Fulham in the summer after our promotion. However, Scott never really claimed a regular first team place at Rushden, making 34 starts in 16 months, and was loaned out for a while to Hereford United last season. Scott is now currently playing for Conference side, Ebbsfleet United, where he has been playing in the first team.

Right back and Captain, Ian Hendon is of course still at the club and as well as playing is now assistant manager to Paul Fairclough, but has played in most of Barnet's games this season.

Left back, Simon Clist was out for most of the following season as Barnet returned to the league, only returning to the side towards the end of the season. At the end of the season, Simon was released by manager, Paul Fairclough and signed for Conference side, Forest Green Rovers, for whom he is now playing in his preferred midfield position. Simon has already scored twice this season for FGR.

At centre back, Ismail Yakubu is of course still at the club and has been named Team captain for the new season after signing a new 2 year contract for the Bees. Simon King was named player of the year for last season, but moved in the summer to Gillingham for £200,000. Anthony Charles who joined the club in January of 2005 as named most improved player for season 2005/06, but never really managed to claim a regular first team place last season and earlier this year went on loan to Conference side, Aldershot and after being released by Barnet in the summer, he joined the Hampshire club permanently.

In midfield, Ben Strevens, who was the club's longest serving player, was released just before the end of the following season and after a short spell at Conference Club, Crawley Town, he moved to Dagenham & Redbridge helping them towards their Conference title and promotion to the Football League.

Nicky Bailey was named player of the year at the end of the following season and his goal against Bristol City in the league cup was judged goal of the season. At the end of last season, he moved to Southend United for £175,000 and scored his first goal in the Essex club's 1-0 home win over Millwall

Dean Sinclair was a regular in the side for both seasons after our return to the league, scoring in the 3rd round, Carling Cup tie at Manchester United, in October 2005. He signed for Championship club, Charlton Athletic in the summer for £125,000, where he has been on the bench so far this season.

Dwane Lee was released near the end of the following season after a training ground row and joined Kidderminster Harriers, but soon after moved to Stevenage Borough. However, he soon moved gain to Southern League side, Maidenhead United, helping them to promotion to the Conference South.

Richard Graham had a disappointing time following the Bees return to the league, missing most of the season through injury. Last season he was in and out of the side and was released during the summer and joined newly promoted, Dagenham & Redbridge.

Up front, both Giuliano Grazioli and Liam Hatch are both at the club but are both on the transfer list having had limited success in the league. Grazioili has gone on a month's loan to Ryman Premier League club, AFC Wimbledon.

Of the squad players, Lee Roache is at Cambridge City, Damien Batt is at Stevenage Borough, but on loan at St.Albans City, Guy Lopez is also at St.Albans City, Tom Champion at Bishops Stortford, Warren McBean at Sutton United and Patrick Ada is at Histon. Shane Gore and Ricky Millard do not seem to be attached to clubs at present.

We will keep you updated of movements of ex Bees throughout the season.
