How are Bees Old Boys doing?

The Barnet squad this season has a new look about it with many new players following Paul Fairclough's clear out in the summer when 13 of the 1st team squad left the club. So how have these former Bees been getting on at their new clubs so far?

Nicky Bailey of course moved to League 1 club, Southend United for £175,000. Bailey, who has teamed up with another ex Bee, Mark Gower, does not yet seem to have an assured first team place, though, of course, it's very early days. Nicky came on as substitute in last Saturday's home game with Leyton Orient, which they lost 2-1. He did start though in the Essex club's 4-1 home victory in the Carling Cup against Cheltenham Town.

Similarly, Simon King, who joined Gillingham for £200,000, came on in the Kent club's away game at Cheltenham on Saturday, which they lost 1-0, but started in the Carling Cup defeat at Watford. Barry Cogan, who joined the Gills on a free transfer from Barnet, came on as sub at Watford, but was an unused sub last Saturday.

Dean Sinclair, who went to Championship side, Charlton athletic for £125,000 was an unused sub at home to Scunthorpe in the League on Saturday, but came on as sub in the 2-0 Carling Cup win at home to Swindon Town, while Richard Graham didn't even make the subs bench for Dagenham's first ever league game at Stockport County, but was an unused sub for the Carling Cup game against Luton Town. At the moment all these players still seem to be just squad players whose best chance of playing is in a Cup match.

In the Conference, Magno Viera has only made two substitute appearances too for Crawley Town, as has Oliver Allen at Stevenage Borough, while Adam Gross only made the subs bench for his new club Grays in their match against Woking in midweek. However, goalkeeper, Ross Flitney, who also went to Grays in the summer, has started in both Grays' games this season saving a penalty against Woking. Anthony Charles played in both Aldershot's opening games, having ended last season on loan for the Hampshire club.

Meanwhile, further down the pyramid, Andy Hessenthaler, became Player-Manager at Ryman League Division 1, Dover, who kick off their league season on Saturday against Horsham YMCA. Hess has played in all Dover's Pre Season Friendly's, including against a Gillingham side featuring King and Cogan and Crawley Town with Viera. Hess scored a volley in their 2-2 draw with a Crystal Palace XI.

So far there has been no news about any new club for either Paul Warhurst or Jason Norville, but if anyone has any recent news about them or any articles or information they want to submit they can contact me at barnetjaybee@hotmail.co.uk

We will return to the progress of ex Bees throughout the season.
