Matthew Heywood joined the club from Brentford in June 2008. He made 34 appearances last season for Brentford, scoring 1 goal. He joined the Bees from Bristol City in 2006. He began his career at Burnley before moving to Swindon Town in 2001 and made over 200 appearances for the Robins, scoring 10 goals. League Appearances for Grimsby: 7.
Richard Hope joined the Mariners from Wrexham in June 2008. He began his career at Blackburn and has subsequently played for Darlington, Northampton, York, Chester and Shrewsbury, making over 350 league appearances in his career, scoring 14 goals. League Appearances for Grimsby: 2.
Tom Newey joined the Mariners from Cambridge United in 2005, having previously had a spell at Cambridge on loan when he was at Leyton Orient. Newey is a player who has attracted a lot of attention from other clubs. League Appearances for Grimsby: 129(4), Goals: 3.
Ryan Bennett is a product of the youth system who was promoted to the first team at the end of the 2006/07 season. He established himself last season in the first team squad starting 28 matches. League Appearances for Grimsby: 37(14), Goals: 1.
James Hunt began his career at Notts County before moving to Northampton in 1997, where he played over 150 league matches for the Cobblers scoring 8 goals. Robbie Stockdale was signed from Tranmere Rovers in June 2008 on a free transfer. He made over 80 appearances for Tranmere after joining them from Hull City in 2006. Chris Llewellyn joined the club from Wrexham in July 2008. He began his career at Norwich City and made over 150 appearances for the Canaries before joining Wrexham in 2003. He scored 20 goals in over 100 appearances for the Dragons before joining Hartlepool in 2005 but re-joined Wrexham in 2006. He scored 14 goals in his second spell at Wrexham before being released at the end of last season. League Appearances for Grimsby: 4(3).
Paul Bolland began his career at Bradford City, before moving to Notts County in 1999, following a short loan spell. He went on to make over 150 appearances for County before moving to Grimsby in 2005. League Appearances for Grimsby: 117(4), Goals: 13.
Peter Till joined Grimsby in January 2007 from Birmingham City, after previously having been on loan at Blundell Park. He also played for Scunthorpe, Boston and Leyton Orient on loan spells while at Birmingham. League Appearances for Grimsby: 55(8), Goals: 4.
Danny Boshell signed from Stockport County in 2006. Before moving to Stockport, he was at Oldham and also had a short loan spell at Bury. League Appearances for Grimsby: 65(9), Goals: 8.
Simon Heslop joined the Mariners on a three month loan from Barnsley in August 2008. He was on loan for much of last season at Halifax Town making 30 appearances and scoring 5 goals for the former Conference side. He made just 1 appearance for Barnsley last season. He has also played for Kidderminster and has played on loan at Tamworth and Northwich. League Appearances for Grimsby: 5(1).
Malvin Kamara joined the Terriers in September 2008 on loan from Huddersfield Town. He is a Sierra Leone full international. He started his career at MK Dons and made 77 league appearances for the Dons, scoring 5 goals. He joined Cardiff in 2006 and then Port Vale in January 2007 before moving to Huddersfield five months later. He has made league appearances for Huddersfield, scoring 3 goals.
Strikers:
Danny North is a 20 year old product of the youth system, who has scored 16 goals in over 50 appearances for the Mariners. League Appearances for Grimsby: 33(22), Goals: 16.
Martin Butler, a very experienced striker, signed in October 2007 from Walsall. Butler has played for Reading, Cambridge United and Rotherham as well as two spells at Walsall and has scored over 100 in his career so far. League Appearances for Grimsby: 18(6), Goals: 6.
Nathan Jarman signed from Barnsley in the summer of 2007. He has also played for Bury on loan and non-league club, Worksop Town. League Appearances for Grimsby: 9(2).
Andy Taylor is a 19 year old product of the youth system. Taylor has mainly been used a s a substitute in the past but has started 3 times this season for the Mariners. League Appearances for Grimsby: 6(34), Goals: 7.
Tomi Ameobi joined the Mariners on loan from Doncaster Rovers. He is the brother of Newcastle striker, Shola Ameobi. Tomi began his career at Newcastle but moved to Leeds United in 2005. He had a loan spell with Scunthorpe last season before moving to Doncaster in the summer.
