Goalkeepers:

 

Tommy Lee joined Macclesfield in the summer of 2006 from Manchester United after a spell on loan the previous season. He has made over 50 first team appearances for Macclesfield and spent time on loan at Rochdale last season. He joined Chesterfield this summer after a successful trial period. Chesterfield League Appearances: 63

 

Mark Crossley joined Chesterfield in the summer of 2009. He is an experienced keeper who began his career at Nottm Forest where he made over 300 league appearnces in 13 years at the club. He also played on loan for Manchester United and Millwall before joining Middlesbrough in 2000. He played on loan at Stoke City before joining Fulham in 2003 for £500,000. He had a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday and in 2007 joined Oldham where he made 59 league appearnces before his move to Saltergate. Chesterfield League Appearances: 4

 

Defenders:

 

Andrew Whing is on loan from Brighton. He began his career at Coventry City and made over 100 appearances for the Sky Blues before joining Brighton in the summer of 2007 following a loan spell. He has made over 100 appearances for the Seagulls and was voted Player of the Year last season. Chesterfield League Appearances: 4(1).

 

Kevin Austin joined the Spireites in June 2008 from Swansea City after helping the Welsh club win the League One championship. He made over 100 league appearances for the Swans after joining them in 2004 from Bristol Rovers. He began his career at Saffron Walden before joining Leyton Orient. He made over 100 appearances for Orient before joining Lincoln City for £30,000 in 1996. He made 127 league appearances for the Imps, scoring 2 goals before having short spells at Barnsley and Cambridge United, moving to Bristol Rovers in 2002. Chesterfield League Appearances: 37(13).

 

Jamie Lowry is a product of the youth system and has become a first team regular in 2007/08, scoring 6 goals so far. A bad injury means that Lowry is likely to miss the rest of the season. Chesterfield League Appearances: 97(8). Goals: 11

 

Phil Picken joined the club in 2006 from Manchester United after having had a long spell on loan at Saltergate the previous season. He signed a new two year contract in June 2008. He was on loan at Notts County last season. Chesterfield League Appearances: 131(7). Goals: 2

 

Gregor Robertson began his career at Nottm Forest before moving to Rotherham in 2005. He joined Chesterfield in the summer of 2007. Chesterfield League Appearances: 74(9). Goals: 3.

 

Alan Goodall has joined Chesterfield in August 2008 following a trial at the club. He began his career at Welsh club, Bangor City before moving to Rochdale in 2004, where he made over 100 appearances scoring 8 goals. He joined Luton last season making 36 appearances, scoring 1 goal.  Chesterfield League Appearances: 35(7). Goals: 3.

 

Aaron Downes is an Australian who began his career in non-league football with Hampton & Richmond and Frickley before joining Chesterfield in 2005. Chesterfield League Appearances: 157(8). Goals: 10.

 

Danny Hall signed for Chesterfield from Gretna in July 2008. He has previously played for Oldham Athletic and Shrewsbury Town. He has had a spell on loan this season at Darlington. Chesterfield League Appearances: 28(2), Goals: 2.

 

Robert Page signed for Chesterfield in the summer of 2008. He began his career at Watford and played over 200 times for the Hertfordshire club before joining Sheffield United in 2001 after an initial loan spell there. He made over 100 appearances for the Blades in three years before moving to Cardiff City and Coventry and, subsequently, Huddersfield Town who released him at the end of last season. He has played 42 times for Wales. Chesterfield League Appearances: 51, Goals: 1.

 

Ian Breckin re-joined Chesterfield for a second spell at the club in June 2009 after being released by Nottm Forest. He started his career at Rotherham where he made over 100 league appearances for the Millers. He moved to Chesterfield for £100,000 in 1997 and made over 200 league appearances for the Spireites before joining Wigan in 2002. He moved to Forest in 2005 for £350,000 and made over 150 first team appearances for Forest. Chesterfield League Appearances: 242(5), Goals: 8.

 

Midfield:

 

Adam Rundle joined Chesterfield from Rochdale in January 2010. He is a left sided midfield player who was released by Mansfield Town in the summer of 2006 and moved to Spotland. He made over 100 league appearances for Rochdale. He was formerly with Carlisle United and Darlington. He had a loan spell with Rotherham this season before joining the Spireites. Chesterfield League Appearances: 9(2).

 

Lloyd Kerry was signed in June 2008 from Sheffield United. He had a loan spell last season at Saltergate. He is currently on loan at Kidderminster. Chesterfield League Appearances: 36(10). Goals: 5

 

Derek Niven joined Chesterfield from Bolton Wanderers in March 2004 after spending a short period on loan with the Spireites. He previously played with Raith Rovers. Chesterfield League Appearances: 228(21). Goals: 16.

 

Paul Harsley began his career at Scunthorpe and over 100 appearances, scoring 6 goals for them before moving on to Halifax and then Northampton before joining Macclesfield in 2004. He made over 100 appearances for the Cheshire club, scoring 12 goals before moving to Port Vale in the summer of 2006. He joined Chesterfield in May 2008. He is currently on loan at York City. Chesterfield League Appearances: 7(13), Goals: 1.

 

 

Dan Gray is a young player who cam up through the youth system at Chesterfield. He had a spell on work experience at Alfreton Town. Chesterfield League Appearances: 34(8).

 

Mark Allott joined Chesterfield, for a second spell at the club, in the summer of 2009 from Tranmere Rovers after not having played a single match for the Birkenhead club following a move earlier in the summer from Oldham Athletic. He began his career at Oldham and made over 150 league appearnces for the Latics before joining Chesterfield in 2002 following a loan spell at Saltergate. He returned to Oldham in 2007. Chesterfield League Appearances: 244(16). Goals: 13.

 

Wade Small joined Chesterfield in the summer of 2009 from Sheffield Wednesday. He began his career at MK Dons where he made over 100 league appearnces before joining the Owls in 2006. He has had loan spells at Blackpool and Charlton. Chesterfield League Appearances: 20(3), Goals: 3.

 

Danny Boshell joined Chesterfield from Grimsby Town in January 2010. He joined the Mariners from Stockport County in 2006. Before moving to Stockport, he was at Oldham and also had a short loan spell at Bury. League Appearances for Chesterfield: 1(3).

 

Terrell Lewis joined Chesterfield in 2009 from non-league, Chalfont St. Peter, where he scored 20 goals last season. League Appearances for Chesterfield: 0(1).

 

Simon Whaley is on loan from Norwich City. He began his career at Bury before joining Preston in 2006 for £250,000. He made over 100 league appearances for Preston before joining Norwich in the summer of 2009. He has had loan spells at Barnsley, Rochdale and Bradford City. Ishmel Demontagnac is on loan from Blackpool. He began his career at Walsall and made nearly 100 league appearances for the Saddlers before joining Blackpool in the summer of 2009. League Appearances for Chesterfield: 3, Goals: 1

 

Strikers:

 

Scott Boden signed for Chesterfield in the summer of 2008 after being released by Sheffield United at the end of last season. Chesterfield League Appearances: 7(33). Goals: 8.

 

Jordan Bowery is a young player who has come up through the youth system at Saltergate. He made his debut as a substitute against Wycombe last season. He has had a loan spell at Barrow this season. Chesterfield League Appearances: 0(10).

                                                PLAYER TO WATCH

 

Jack Lester began his career at Grimsby scoring 25 goals for the Mariners before moving to Nottm Forest in 2000. He scored 38 goals in two spells at Forest before joining Chesterfield in the summer of 2007. He has also played for Sheffield United and Doncaster. Lester scored twice for Chesterfield at Underhill on the opening day of last season. Chesterfield League Appearances: 93(2). Goals: 53.

Drew Talbot has signed on loan from Luton for the rest of the season. He joined Luton in January 2007 from Sheffield Wednesday for £250,000. He scored 5 goals in over 30 first team appearances for the Owls and also spent time on loan at Scunthorpe. League Appearances for Chesterfield: 40(4), Goals: 8.

 

Martin Gritton joined Chesterfield in January 2009 after having scored twice for Macclesfield at Saltergate. Gritton was signed in the summer of 2007 from Lincoln City. Gritton is an experienced striker and has also played for Grimsby, Torquay, Plymouth and Yeovil and also had a spell on loan at Mansfield. League Appearances for Chesterfield: 21(6), Goals: 5.

 

Barry Conlon is a much travelled striker who joined Chesterfield in January 2010 from Grimsby Town. He joined the Mariners in the summer of 2009 from Bradford City after an initial loan period with the mariners where he played a big part in helping them stave off relegation, scoring 5 goals in 8 games. He joined Bradford City in 2007 from Mansfield Town, scoring 17 goals in two seasons at Valley Parade. He had spells at QPR, Manchester City, Southend and York City before moving to Darlington in 2001 where he made over 100 appearances in three seasons scoring 42 goals. He later played for Barnsley and then returned to Darlington before moving on to Mansfield in 2007. League Appearances for Chesterfield: 13(1), Goals: 6.
