Barnet won the second of their Christmas games at Aldershot on Boxing Day, following their 3-0 home win over Chester, the Saturday before. The win over the Shots took them 9 points clear at the top of the Conference table.
Aldershot had much of the early play, but the Bees grew into the game and four minutes before half time, John AKINDE ran on to a long ball out of defence and out muscled two defenders before sliding his shot past Shots' keeper, Peter Smith.
HT: Shots 0 Bees 1
Aldershot drew level only three minutes into the second half when Jordan Roberts scored from a corner with some sloppy Barnet defending. However, the Bees were back ahead a minute later when MacDonald played AKINDE through and he was able to run through comfortably and score. Akinde almost grabbed a third when he was put through by Mauro Vilhete but he slipped his shot just wide. Aldershot rarely threatened the Barnet goal and the Bees made sure of the three points in time added on, when a bad defensive slip let in Akinde who was brought down by Smith, who was red carded for denying the Barnet leading scorer a goalscoring opportunity. AKINDE picked himself up and converted the penalty for his hat trick.
