Barnet hosted their annual pre-season friendly at Underhill against Arsenal this afternoon and included nine new signings in the starting line up with only Jake Cole and Mark Hughes remaining from last season’s side. Included amongst the substitutes were former Swindon winger, Mark Marshall, former Leyton Orient goalkeeper, Jack Giddens and youth team player, John Megicks.
Barnet were completely outplayed in the first half in a game which Arsenal completely dominated with Barnet finding it difficult to even get into the Arsenal half. Andre Arshavin scored after just 90 seconds and two goals from Jay Simpson after 15 and 45 minutes gave the Gunners a deserved 3-0 half time lead.
Barnet looked very much like a side that had hardly played together though Glen Southam looked the pick of the new players, looking quite assured with his passing and his general performance.
