Barnet fielded an injury hit line up for the visit of 8th placed Welling, without Mauro Vilhete, Roberto, Jake Hyde, Dani Lopez and Luke Gambin as well as Keanu Marsh-Brown who missed the first of his three matches through suspension.
Barnet started reasonably well and played some nice football in the first half without causing the visitors that many problems. Keiron Cadogan should have put the Bees ahead when he broke through, somewhat luckily only to scuff his shot with only the keeper to beat. Cadogan gave a lively performance and was, perhaps, Barnet’s main threat though Luisma showed some class with some nice touches and was unlucky with a curling shot that just drifted wide of the post.
However, Welling perhaps came the closest to scoring and had one effort scrambled off the line and came close on a couple of other occasions. The first half ended goalless. The second half was pretty much more of the same. Marciano Mengerink came on just before the hour, replacing Jack Saville to try and give the team more firepower and Harry Crawford moving out to the right hand side of midfield where he looked a lot more comfortable and put across a couple of inviting crosses that Mengerink, in particular, should have got on the end of. Graham Stack, who in the first half, had fumbled the ball on one occasion which could have cost the Bees, came to the Bees’ rescue with a fine save in the second half and the game ended goalless with a point each probably being the fair result. The draw actually took Barnet up to 6th place, just a point off of the play offs.
