Barnet 1 FGR 3

Barnet lost their second consecutive league home match and their fifth game in eight matches as they continued to struggle for form. Fortunately for the Bees, leaders, Bristol Rovers also lost at home, to ever improving Eastleigh by 2-1, a warning for Barnet who are due to travel next Saturday to Eastleigh themselves. The results left Bristol Rovers with 73 points from 38 games, two pnts clear of Barnet on 71 points but with a game in hand, while Grimsby moved back up to 3rd after winning 2-1 at Woking and have 68 points, as have Macclesfield who could only draw 0-0 with struggling Aldershot. Both have played the same games as Barnet. Forest Green Rovers and Eastleigh lie 5th and 6th respectively.

Barnet took the lead after just 7 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after John AKINDE was fouled by FGR keeper, Steve Arnold. Akinde made no mistake from the penalty area, as usual rolling it into the corner. However, from thereon the game slipped away from the Bees and Bennett equalised for FGR on 25 minutes with a fine shot from outside the penalty area. The sides were level at half time, but on 67 minutes, Jon Parkin put FGR ahead with a fine goal but one which was not a good one from the home side's point of view. FGR clinched the match with a third goal, seven minutes later through Guthrie who headed home from a corner and that was that.
