Once again, Barnet needed a win to go back to the top of the Conference table following Bristol Rovers' 5-1 win over Chester on Good Friday. Barnet responded with a scrappy 1-0 home win over relegation bound, Nuneaton Town leaving them on 82 points from 42 matches, still a point clear of Rovers but now three points clear of Grimsby, now third, who dropped two points in a 2-2 home draw with Gateshead. Macclesfield's 2-2 with Halifax left them nine points behind the Bees with Woking in 5th place followed by FGR, Eastleigh and AFC Halifax.
Barnet should have one ahead in the first half but Charlie MacDonald saw his s hot come back off of the post when he really should have scored. In a scrappy affair, the Bees had to wait until the 69th minute before finally breaking the deadlock. Andy Yiadom put over a fine cross which found John AKINDE on the edge of the penalty area and the Bees' leading scorer superbly chested the ball down before hitting an unstoppable shot into the top right hand corner of the net for his 30th goal of the season.
