Barnet won only their second match seven games with a 1-0 home win over struggling Southport on Saturday, but they had to wait until the fourth minute of injury time before they claimed the three points.
The Bees were playing their first game under Ulrich Landvregd and Dick Schreuder following the departure of Edgar Davids and then the short lived interim period under Paul Fairclough which began and ended with Tuesday night’s 3-1 home defeat by Aldershot. Dani Lopez made his first appearance of his third loan spell with the club and Luisma Villa was re-instated in the side and Mauro Vilhete, who scored Barnet’s goal in midweek, played at left back where he had shone earlier in the season. Elliott Johnson had to settle for a place on the sub’s bench and Jordan Brown was left out of the squad.
Southport keeper, Danny Hurst gave a good performance to keep the score goalless until very late on in the game when Mauro VILHETE popped up in the penalty area to head home Luisma’s corner from close range and win three precious points for the Bees which sees Barnet climb back up to 7th.
