Barnet started the game well and had a few good chances with Luisma, in particular going close. Macclesfield came close to hitting the post from long range with Graham Stack well beaten. It was the Silkmen who scored first on 41 minutes when another ling shot from Adriano Moke somehow went past Stack into the net to put the visitors 1-0 up at half time.
