Barnet through in FA Trophy

Barnet came through an awkward game at Woking to go through to the 2nd round of the FA Trophy by beating Conference South side, Hayes & Yeading 1-0. Edgar Davids gave David Stephens a rest but was also missing injured defenders Anthony Acheampong and Jack Saville and prior to the start of the game, Elliott Johnson was injured in the warm up leaving a defence consisting of Andy Yiadom, Carl Fletcher, Curtis Weston and Davids!!

Not surprisingly then, perhaps, that Hayes had a number of chances to score during the game though it was Luisma that had the first chance who cut in before shooting wide of the goal.

Andy Yiadom had to clear off of the goal line soon after from a shot by Dean Inman, but George Sykes had a real chance to put the Bees ahead but volleyed straight at the goalkeeper.

Late in the game, SYKES hit the crossbar but then in the last minute a cross from Keanu Marsh-Brown was headed on by Keiron Cadogan for the young Bees’ striker to win the game for Barnet with an overhead kick over the top of Hayes’ keeper, Jamie Young.

The draw for the 2nd round is on Monday.

Barnet: Stack; Yiadom, Fletcher (Stephens 80), Weston, Davids; Marsh-Brown, Abdulla (Nurse 62), Byrne, Cadogan, Luisma; Sykes (Casabella 90).
