Chester 2 Barnet 1

Last updated : 20 January 2014 By Jaybee

Barnet lost further ground in their bid to make the play offs when they dropped to 10th place in the table after a surprise 2-1 defeat by lowly Chester. Chester had a new manager in place; former Kidderminster boss, Steve Burr and they went ahead after 34 minutes through Lewis Turner.

Barnet had to wait until six minutes from time before they grabbed the equaliser; Jake HYDE heading home Harry Crawford’s cross. However, Jamie Reed restored Chester’s lead a minute later and Barnet crashed to their fourth defeat in five games. There was a major shock in store after the game when it was announced that the club and manger, Edgar Davids had parted company, thus ending a period of 15 months under the former Juventus and Ajax star.
