Chesterfield 1 Barnet 0

Barnet manager, Ian Hendon made just one change from last Saturday's starting line up against Darlington, bringing in Jake Hyde in place of John O'Flynn who had to settle for a place on the bench.

The first half was fairly evenly contested with not a lot of chances. The Bees had a few chances just past the half hour with Paul Furlong, Albert Adomah and Micah Hyde all having efforts on goal. Soon after, Yannick Bolasie sent a shot just wide. Jake Hyde saw a header go just wide.

Chesterfield began to come back into it and it took a save of pure class by Jake Cole to prevent Jack Lester from putting the Spireites 1-0 up. Mark Hughes was booked for a foul on Chesterfield's, David Perkins.

Barnet were giving a solid performance and not letting themselves be dominated by the home side and deserved to go in at half time level.

HT: Spireites 0 Bees 0

The second half carried on in much the same way as the first with barnet still having much of the play and getting into good situations, but just past the hour, Chesterfield substitute, Scott Boden put the Spireites 1-0 up from close range.

Barnet tried hard to level the match but despite nearly five minutes of injury time added on, they could not quite manage to grab an equaliser and Chesterfield took the three points. For the Bees, it meant that they had lost their last four away league matches, while Chesterfield remain unbeaten at home. Barnet drop to 8th, though they are only one point outside the play-off places despite their poor away form, while Chesterfield, who also have a poor away record, jump above the Bees into 6th place.

Barnet now have two league matches at home, against Hereford and Port Vale, coming up before their next away league match at Cheltenham Town. After four difficult away trips, it will be important that Barnet get something from a side that are in freefall at the moment.
