Barnet travelled to Canvey Island to meet Conference South club, Concord Rangers in the 1st round of the FA Trophy having met them at the Hive last season in the FA Cup when the Bees won 3-0. Martin Allen decided to name a team consisting of some squad players who were not quite first choice players such as Mauro Vilhete and Jack Saville, who was named captain for the first time, plus Charlie MacDonald to give him more game time and some of the more promising young players at the club. Keanu Marsh-Brown returned from injury.
There were first team debuts for youngsters Joe Gater & Harry Taylor while four youth team players were named on the bench including prolific scorer, Matt Stevens who had already made one first team appearance as a substitute.
The game was pretty even, on a poor pitch, with both sides having chances. Early in the second half, Concord's Danny Glozier was sent off for a foul on Mensah which denied the Bees' player a clear goalscoring opportunity. Barnet youngsters, Matt Stevens and Charlie Kennedy came on in the 2nd half, Kennedy making his debut.
The match ended goalless with the replay to take place this coming Tuesday at the Hive.
