Railwaymen remain on track

Luke Murphy and Shaun Miller scored either side of half-time to give Crewe a 3-1 win over Barnet, extending Alex's winning streak to three games and ending the Bees' mini revival.

Izale McLeod netted his seventh goal of the season to offer the hosts a glimmer of hope but Adam Dugdale killed off any chance of a comeback with a late strike.

Ashley Westwood nodded wide for Crewe while Mark Byrne blasted Barnet's best chance over in a tight opening half-hour.

Crewe broke the deadlock with 27 minutes gone when Westwood teed up Murphy to crash home an unstoppable shot from 25 yards out.

Westwood and Lee Bell threatened to double the lead with two free-kicks while McLeod's header was easily gathered by Alex keeper Steve Phillips. Phillips then palmed McLeod's goal-bound header around the post on the stroke of half-time.

Eight minutes after the break, Miller pounced to make it 2-0 from close range when Dean Brill could only parry Westwood's shot.

Phillips denied Byrne with another superb stop before Clovis Kamdjo headed wide from the resultant corner.

McLeod grabbed the Bees a lifeline in the 79th minute, bundling home the rebound after Phillips failed to hold onto the striker's initial header.

But Miller centred for Dugdale to tap in from less than a yard out in the 90th minute and ensure Barnet left empty handed.
