Crewe 7 Barnet 0

Barnet slid to the bottom of the table at the weekend, following a dreadful performance at Gresty Road which saw Barnet lose 7-0 to a side previously without a point this weekend. Once again, manager, Mark Stimson chose to play Jordan Parkes at right back and Daniel Leach at left back, while mark Hughes continued in midfield at the expense of Rossi Jarvis. Ricky Holmes started up front on his own with Phil Walsh left on the bench.

Barnet went behind as early as the 4th minute and went in at half time, 2-0 down, but worse was to come in the second half as the home side, without last season’s top scorer, Calvin Zola, racked up five more goals to inflict the heavies defeat on Barnet since September 1998 when the Bees lost 9-1 at home to Peterborough United.

Bees’ fans will be hoping that the players can pick themselves up before Saturday’s home game with Bury. Some consolation may come from the fact that Barnet have only twice taken more than one point from their opening three league matches since winning promotion in 2005 and in both seasons they were in danger of being relegated on the last day of the season.

Meanwhile, Danny Hart has joined Blue Square South club, Thurrock on loan. It will be his second spell on loan at the Essex club having played for them in 2008. Hart has also had loan spells at Wivenhoe, Northwood and Hemel Hempstead.
