Barnet made a couple of changes for the trip to Meadow Lane. Ismail Yakubu, who came off after only four minutes against Torquay in midweek, was still not fit to play and Kenny Gillet came in to partner Gary Breen, with Joe Devera starting at right back. Albert Adomah was brought in to start today, after being on the bench in the last couple of games, with John O’Flynn dropping to the bench.
As at Morecambe, Barnet got off to a terrible start when the home side went ahead after just five minutes, Karl Hawley scoring from close in to put County 1-0 up.
Things got worse for the Bees when County went 2-0 up after 25 minutes. Ben Davies scored direct from a free kick just outside the penalty area.
HT: County 2 Barnet 0
Ian Hendon brought on Jake Hyde and John O’Flynn to give the attack a boost in the second half, but they failed to really make an impact and County seemed to be in cruise control as the Bees drifted to their ninth consecutive away defeat. Without a win now in 13 league games, the Bees were lucky that other results near the bottom of League Two went well for them and they remain in 18th place, 9 points clear of the drop zone. Next up is Accrington Stanley away on Tuesday. Something needs to be done to bring change to the club and fast. In particular, the need for a new striker is urgent.
