Swansea 3 Barnet 0

Barnet manager, Mark Stimson has made a number of changes for tonight’s Carling Cup match against Swansea City. Darren Dennehy comes in at centre back, with Daniel Leach moving to left back in place of Jordan Parkes. On the right hand side of the defence, Sam Cox comes in for Joe Devera. In central midfield, Mark Hughes replaces Rossi Jarvis and Ricky Holmes replaces the injured Steve Kabba.

Early on, Mark Byrne, Ricky Holmes and Glenn Poole all had attempts on goal, but in the 18th minute, Sam Cox gave away a penalty with a foul on Swansea’s Cedric Van der Gun. However, Swans’ striker, Shefki Kuqi missed the penalty as his shot hit the bar. Soon after, Kerry Morgan had a shot which also hit the Barnet bar as the home side began to put the pressure on.

Five minutes later and Swansea took the lead when Van der Gun headed home a cross from Albert Serran to put the home side 1-0 up.

At the beginning of the second half, Jordan Parkes replaced Sam Cox. Midway through the second half, Danny Kelly came on for Mark Hughes, which gave Barnet two up front and Danny Hart replaced Mark Marshall. Barnet began to come more into the game and Ricky Holmes had a shot saved by the Swansea keeper and mark Byrne had a shot go over the bar from just outside the penalty area. Soon after though, Pratley put Swansea 2-0 up with a shot from 12 yards after being set up by Orlandi.

Two minutes from Kuqi made amends for his penalty miss when he put Swansea 3-0 up, hitting home a shot from inside the penalty area and that was pretty much that for the Bees. Barnet had lost in the 1st round of the Carling Cup for the fourth season running.
