Yeovil stormed into the third round of the FA Cup for the 14th time with a comprehensive victory over the only team they failed to beat when they romped away with the Nationwide Conference title last season.
For one brief moment Barnet were in the game with a real chance. That was in the tenth minute when a fine header by Peter Beadle cancelled out an equally fine Yeovil effort from Colin Pluck 60 seconds earlier.
Pluck's goal was laid on by Gavin Williams and he proved to be the tormentor of Martin Allen's team in the first half.
He put the Glovers ahead from the penalty spot on 18 minutes after the experienced Danny Maddix had needlessly handled, and nine minutes later he scrambled in a close-range effort to make it 3-1.
This goal, like the two in the second half, was created by the pace of Kevin Gall. The former Bristol Rovers man chased a lost cause to the byline before hooking the ball back for Williams to add the finishing touch.
Barnet battled well in the second half without creating any clear-cut chances and the inevitable happened when Yeovil used the pace of Gall to set up two more goals.
In the 74th minute he broke down the right and crossed for Nick Crittenden to finish, and three minutes later provided a tap-in for substitute Jake Edwards, who had entered the action just two minutes earlier.
"It was another magnificent substitution," quipped manager Gary Johnson after the game.
"We knew we had to watch Peter Beadle in the air and Giuliano Grazioli on the ground.
"Apart from one lapse my defence did well and as we scored five I can forgive them that mistake." Barnet boss Allen thought Yeovil were slightly flattered by the margin of victory but he admitted the Glovers were a very good side.
"What Gary Johnson has done here in the past two years is what my chairman and I are trying to do at Barnet but it obviously takes time," he said.
