Jack Saville, who was released by Barnet at the end of last season after being part of the Conference championship winning squad, has signed for Aldershot Town on a one year contract.
He began his career at Southampton before having a loan spell at Hayes & Yeading in 2011 and then arriving at Underhill on loan at Barnet in November of the same year. Saville made 9 appearances for the Bees before he was released by the Saints and signed on a permanent contract at Barnet.
However, Saville did not quite establish himself as a regular first team player at Barnet, though he had spells in the side where it looked as though he might become a first choice centre back. To be fair, Barnet have had some very good central defenders in the last few seasons such as Michael Hector, Paul Downing, Bondz N'Gala, Krystian Pearce, Val Gjokaj and David Stephens. However, it also has to be said that had Saville really stood out the club would not have had to bring in a number of central defenders on loan. Saville has made more appearances in the last two seasons, having spent much of 2012/13, on loan at Ebbsfleet, but he has never quite made a first tam place his own. In the end, Jack made 81 appearances for the Bees scoring just one goal; at home to Gillingham in August 2013.
Barnet Mad wishes Jack a successful time at Aldershot.
