Luke Medley, who was released by Barnet at the end of last season, has signed for Blue Square Premier club, Mansfield Town. Medley joined Barnet’s PROTEC youth system from Welwyn Garden City in 2006 but left the following year to join Tottenham playing in their youth side. He was released by Tottenham and joined Bradford City, scoring on his debut for the Bantams.
In 2008, he re-joined Barnet for a small fee but never established himself at the club and had loan spells with Havant & Waterlooville and Woking. He made 19 first team appearances with the Bees, scoring once, in the 4-3 away win at Rotherham in 2008. He spent half of last season on loan at Woking. He has been on trial at a number of clubs including Woking and Gillingham and it is slightly surprising perhaps that he has landed a six month contract at Mansfield. Some of the funding for the signing has come from the supporters’ group, The 12th Stag, who have contributed £1200 towards the player’s wages. Barnet Mad wishes Luke all the best at his new club.
