Barnet have announced that club captain, Charlie MacDonald and goalkeeper, Sam Cowler have been released by the club. This follows on from new earlier the month that Lee Cook and Jack Saville would not be retained. MacDonald who signed for the club last summer from Oldham was a fantastic signing by Martin Allen and his terrific early season form, and goals, played a huge part in Barnet making such a strong start at the beginning of the season. Sadly, injuries affected much of his season but there is no doubt that his contribution to the club's success this season was immense and seeing him and Curtis Weston lifting the Conference trophy after the Gateshead match was probably the highlight of the last ten years of watching the Bees since a certain Ian Hendon did the same back in 2005.
Tributes to all the players who are leaving will appear in the coming weeks on Barnet Mad.
Meanwhile, Martin Allen has announced that the club has signed two new players for next season already but as they are still playing for their clubs, Allen can not name these players just yet.
