Barnet Still A Work In Progress

Barnet Head Coach, Mark Robson has declared that he is “happy with the way we are doing things at the moment”. Speaking in this week’s Barnet Times, Robson stated that the team’s change in playing style was “ still a bit of a work in progress”, and admitted that there were still aspects of the team’s performances that needed to be ‘put right’ and that “on the defensive side, there are certain aspects to work on.”

Robson felt that “on the playing side there are lots of positives for me. I am really pleased with the way the lads are going about the way we play and taking it on board.” and that against Boreham Wood, “there was one aspect that worked really well”, though Robson is aware of the problems of conceding goals from set pieces that the team had last season and that the team was young and that there was “ a little bit of naivety in one or two of them in terms of stopping their men running into the box”, but that “it’s something that they will learn”.

Robson hopes that Barnet can cause Championship side, Birmingham City some surprises in the League Cup match next Tuesday that kicks off the 2012/13 season. Robson went on to say that the team would go there “full of confidence and trying to get a result.” Robson is still trying to bring “one or two” more players into the club before the start of the season.
