Barry Fuller was perhaps one of the surprises on the list of those players not to be retained. Fuller joined the Bees from Gillingham last summer amid rumours that he wasn’t fully fit but Barry went on to have a reasonable season with the Bees making 41 first team appearnces for the club. However, Fuller’s sending off at the end of the home game with Dagenham & Redbridge earned him a four match ban and meant that he missed a large part of the run in. Indeed it turned out to be the last action of his Barnet career as Andy Yiadom was preferred to Fuller for the final games. Fuller was criticized by some fans as well for being in the habit of giving away penalties that cost the Bees points.
Fuller played for the Bees before in a loan spell in 2005/06 while at Charlton Athletic. He made 15 League Two appearances for the Bees, playing at right back and midfield, scoring once in the 2-2 draw at Peterborough. After being released that summer by Charlton, he could have returned to Underhill but chose instead to join Stevenage Borough, who were at the time in the Conference. In January 2008, Fuller moved to Gillingham and captained the side that won promotion to League One in 2009. Fuller made over 150 first team appearances at Gillingham. Barry has been snapped up by AFC Wimbledon, fellow League Two strugglers last season so it could be more of the same for him next season.
Barnet Mad wishes Barry all the best for the new season and with his new club.
