Barnet have released Wales international midfield player, John Oster. Oster joined the Bees in September of last year and brought a great deal of class to the Bees’ midfield. He scored twice; the first a stunning goal in the 4-0 home win over Northampton town, the first match that Edgar Davids appeared in for the Bees. His second came in the 2-0 home win over BradfordCity. Oster had extensive Premiership and Championship experience before joining Barnet.
Oster began his career at Grimsby before moving to Everton for £1.5m in 1997. He made 50 first team appearances for the Toffees before moving to Sunderland for £1m in 1999. Oster made over 90 appearances for the Black Cats in over 5years and had loan spells at Barnsley, Grimsby and Leeds before joining Burnley in 2005. Later that year he joined Reading and helped the Berkshire club reach the Premiership and made 90 first team appearances before joining CrystalPalace in 2008. In 2009, he joined Doncaster Rovers and made 120 appearances in 3 seasons before being released at the end of 2011/12.
Oster made 28 league appearances for Barnet including five as a substitute and Barnet Mad wishes him well in the future.
