In a move that has rocked the world of lower league football, it has been announced that Martin Allen has been appointed manager of Barnet until the end of the season. Chairman Anthony Kleanthous told the official Barnet website that this move was the last throw of the dice in an attempt to starve of the Bee’s almost certain relegation. It has also been made clear that funds for loan signings have been made available.
Allen was Barnet manager from 2002-2003 before he was replaced by Pail Fairclough, who has returned to his role as a director having been in temporary charge of Barnet. Allen has been out of football since his dismissal from Cheltenham Town in 2009, having been doing some media work with the likes of TalkSport.
Adam Hern’s reaction to follow shortly.
