I have recently been playing in Singapore, although I have just returned home, as I want to get back playing in the English league. Also it was too hot for me, 30C everyday is like pre season all the time!
What is your honest opinion of Martin Allen? I always thought of him as a gent but subsequent stories have pointed in the opposite direction. i would like to know your opinion. Dont forget the laws of LIbel

I think martin Allen is a good manager and is very good at working the media. My opinion on martin is that he is a very focused, committed, driven individual. In saying what he is really like I would say that his public image is exaggerated and that he has a mean streak, which anyone who has seen him play I think would agree.
would you ever come back to the bees?

I really enjoyed my time at Barnet, the fans, players, staff were all fantastic and it had a family feel to it, which provided me with a lot of job satisfaction.
What do you think were the reasons for your non-retention by Barnet?
After what we all know now about Martin Allen, are you surprised by his behaviour towards Barnet?
How big a blow was it to the players when he suddenly departed, or did you have an inkling it would happen?
Who, in your opinion, was the key member of the Barnet squad, during your time with the club, and why?
Do you think professional footballers are poorly treated and misunderstood by the media and fans....if so, please state why.
what is special about Barnet FC?

I think there were a few reasons why I didn't stay but I think basically it was down to my injury. I don't know if the fans knew but from xmas 2003 I was suffering with an injury. So for the last 2-3 months of the season I was on painkillers all day everyday. So by the time Paul arrived I was hardly playing and couldn't perform to my full potential. So I guess Paul thought that I was either not good enough or too much of a risk. Personally I'd like to think had I been fit I could have shown that I deserved a new contract.
I can't really comment on martin's behaviour to Barnet, as I don't know that much about it.
It was a blow martin leaving the way he did but I think with the whole management leaving and Paul coming in it took some time to adapt. Paul is very different to martin and the players took a while to adjust. We did have a slight incline but was only confirmed a few hours before it was released to the media.
I think there were 3 players, Chris Plummer, Ian Hendon and Galliano Grazioli. The first two because of the experience and leadership skills, Hendon especially just the way he plays installs confidence and drive into others. Grazioli simply because he is a goal scoring machine he would always get you a goal when you needed one.
It's a tricky question, I think the media of late have been trying to get on the backs of some players and create stories that aren't really there. But top pros now are celebs and have to expect the attention and be smart when they are out.
On the whole though I don't think footballers can complain too much, it's a great lifestyle, and if you are earning the big bucks you may never need work again past the age of 35.

Barnet when I was there was a very special club. I think it's the boardroom that makes it what it is. The chairman is great and really cares about the club and the other backroom staff work so hard in running the club. Add to this the manager, players and fans who all want to win for Barnet too and you have a great feeling every time you play.
