Most Barnet fans were surprised that dean Brill was not on the retained list at the end of the season. The former Luton town goalkeeper had arrived last summer from Oldham Athletic and had mostly been first choice keeper for the Bees during the season apart from two spells when he was dropped for Liam O’Brien; firstly after the 2-1 home defeat by Northampton in October and then after the dreadful 4-0 home defeat by Bradford City in February.
However, Brill soon won his place back both times and played his part in keeping the Bees in League Two. He will probably be best remembered at Underhill for his performance in the semi final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Underhill against Brentford, particularly in the penalty shoot out which the Bees won and, of course, that great, late save at Burton on the last day of the season that was so crucial in keeping Barnet up. For that save alone, he will surely have a place in the hearts of many Barnet fans.
Barnet Mad wishes Dean all the best in the future.
