Barnet v Accrington 2004/05

In 2004/05, Barnet met Accrington at Underhill in November. Barnet were top of the Conference, but the Bees had suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat to Southern League, Bath City in the FA Cup the previous Saturday.

However, from the start the Bees controlled the game with fast, flowing football. The first chance fell to winger, Richard Graham who saw his fine shot pushed over the bar after a fine run.

Barnet took the lead after 21 minutes when Simon King in loads of space let fly and hit an unstoppable shot from outside the penalty area. Graham then put Giuliano Grazioli through but his shot was pushed just wide and then Ian Hendon saw his effort bounce just wide with Accrington keeper, Crichton well beaten.

The visitors missed their best chance of the half when Paul Mullin blasted wide with only Scott Tynan to beat. The Bees' goalkeeper then saved comfortably from Ian Craney.

Barnet went 2-0 up 13 minutes into the second half when Dean Sinclair played Richard Graham in and the Bees' winger hit his shot in off the far post to double Barnet's lead. Accrington should have pulled one back shortly after but Mullen headed wide with the goal gaping wide open.

Barnet continued to create a number of chances. Grazioli and Ismail Yakubu came close to adding to Barnet's tally before Liam Hatch made it three. A cross cum shot by Richard Graham was headed back by Accrington centre back, Michael Flynn, onto his own crossbar and with Crichton stranded, the ball hit Hatch and rolled into the net.
