Last updated : 28 September 2009 By Jaybee
Tomorrow night, Dagenham & Redbridge are the visitors to Underhill. In 2004-05, the two sides met in October with Barnet top of the Conference. Dagenham were 11th. Barnet had gained a fine 3-0 win at Exeter in the week and were full of confidence. However, top scorer, Giuliano Grazioli was out with flu. Liam Hatch and Ben Strevens played up front and skipper, Ian Hendon who had missed the Exeter game replaced Damien Batt at right back.

Barnet went quickly into a two goal lead with, first, Ian Hendon cutting in from the right wing to shoot under Tony Roberts to put Barnet 1-0 up after just two minutes. Four minutes later, Ben Strevens headed home a Richard Graham corner for the second.

However, the Bees lost Hatch soon after with an injured arm and he was replaced by Lee Roache. Hatch had nearly increased Barnet's lead when he should have scored when he ran onto Nicky Bailey's long ball over the top but blasted wide of the goal. His replacement, Roache, could have made it 3-0 soon after coming on but shot straight at Roberts when well placed.

Damien Batt replaced Ismail Yakubu for the second half. Yakubu had received a knock just before half time. Mark Jenney and Paul Bruce both had attempts on goal for the visitors but both shots sailed well wide. Barnet were well in control and a third goal looked certain to come and it came through Lee Roache who ran on to along ball from Ian Hendon and slotted his shot into the far corner of the net. Then Nicky bailey sent a terrific curling shot into the top right hand corner of the net from 25 yards. Barnet's fifth goal came from the penalty spot after Dean Sinclair had been tripped by ex-Bee, Lee Flynn. Hendon slammed the ball into the roof of the net to make the final score 5-0.
