Pool A has All the Championship teams apart from Norwich City and Crystal Palace who get a bye to the second round along with all of the Premier league sides apart from a fair few premier league teams that are given byes to the third round. Although Palace and Norwich get a bye Southampton are in the draw for the first round. And also the top League One sides are included in the draw.

The last time the Bees were in the League cup was in 2000/2001 where the Bees won there first leg against Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 but then lost the second 3-1. Barnet are in the southern section of the draw can only play one of the following 18 teams.Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Bristol City, Cardiff, Coventry, Crystal Palace, Gillingham, Ipswich, Luton, Millwall, Norwich, Plymouth, Queens Park Rangers, Reading, Southampton, Swindon and Watford.
