Barnet 3-1 Crawley
Nationwide Conference, Tuesday 7th December 2004 @ 19:45; Broadfield Stadium
Barnet extended their unbeaten away record and ended Crawley's undefeated home run in the process with an impressive win at the Broadfield Stadium.
Conference top scorer Giuliano Grazioli netted twice and Dean Sinclair scored the other to keep the Bees firmly at the top of the table.
Barnet dominated from the start and should have been far more comfortably ahead than their one-goal advantage at the break.
Sinclair headed straight at Phil Smith when he had the whole goal to aim at before Grazioli squandered an even better chance moments later.
The former Bristol Rovers striker was left alone at the back post from a low cross by Nick Bailey but somehow managed to fire wide from two yards. Grazioli made amends for his howler on the half-hour mark with a superb strike.
Bailey curled in another perfectly flighted ball from the right and Grazioli sent his side-footed volley into the top corner of the net.
Grazioli took just two minutes of the second half to score his 16th of the season. He latched on to a throughball from Sinclair and looked to have over-run the ball before flicking out a toe to lift it over Smith.
The Reds gave themselves some hope in the 68th minute when Danny Davidson pulled one back. Ben Judge found space on the right and crossed for the giant striker to slide in to convert from close range.
However, Sinclair spectacularly rounded off the win for Barnet in the last minute when he smashed home a 20-yard volley.

Gravesend 1-3 Barnet
Nationwide Conference, Saturday 11th December 2004 @ 15:00; Stonebridge Road
Fleet boss Andy Ford may introduce an extra training session for his players as he tries to end a run of ten games without a win.
Title-chasing Barnet were the latest side to pick up three points from the Fleet when they came from behind to win 3-1 at Stonebridge Road.
"We are finding it hard to complete with the full-time teams," said Ford after the game.
"We may try to bring the players together on Monday morning with an extra training session. We are not keeping up with the Jones' at the moment."
Fleet threatened with two early Roy Essandoh headers, the first forcing Simon Clist into a goal-line clearance, before Bees keeper Scott Tynan's fingertips turned away another.
On 15 minutes Fleet took the lead, Manny Omoyinmi twisting into the box past four defenders before slipping the ball into the six-yard area where Barnet defender Ismail Yakubu knocked it over the goal-line past Tynan.
Barnet began to take control on the hour when a poor clearance from Chris Moore fell to Giuliano Grazioli to pick out Liam Hatch on the right wing and he slotted home beyond Fleet keeper James Pullen.
Within fiveminutes Barnet were in front, Hatch heading down to Nick Bailey who shot home from six yards.
The comeback was complete after 72 minutes when a cross from the right picked out Dean Sinclair, who drove the ball into the net at the near post from an acute angle.

Barnet 0-3 Tamworth
Nationwide Conference, Saturday 18th December 2004 @ 15:00; Underhill Stadium
Tamworth were worth winners as ten-man Barnet were overwhelmed at Underhill. The impressive Tristram Whitman put the Lambs in the lead, with a double strike from veteran marksman Bob Taylor either side of the break bringing an end to the Bees' 12-game unbeaten run. The turning point of the match however, was the sending-off of Simon King after 22 minutes. Bees defender King was given his marching orders for a professional foul as the pacy Whitman dived which sent the Bees fans mad. Two minutes after King's red card the Lambs were in front. Adie Smith's pass from midfield dissected the Barnet defence, with Whitman's cool lob from 12 yards proving too good for keeper Tynan. Barnet's fluid neat passing game seemed to have deserted them and the home side went further behind on the half hour. Lee Colkin's free-kick was headed on by ex-Barnet man Matt Redmile, eventually reaching the head of Taylor who made no mistake from close in. Tamworth's pacy and muscular game was proving to be too much for Barnet who fell from further behind eight minutes after the restart. Kyle Storer broke up a Barnet attack and as his forward pass was poorly defended by Barnet, Taylor found himself in the clear and his precise strike from 20 yards found the net. This was a very poor Barnet performance and even though they remain firmly in top spot, this result will be a timely wake-up call. |

Stevenage 2-1 Barnet
Nationwide Conference, Sunday 26th December 2004 @ 12:00; Broadhall Way
Stevenage dented Barnet's title aspirations with an impressive Boxing Day performance which fully merited the three points.
From the outset Stevenage took the game to a Barnet side managed by former Boro boss Paul Fairclough.
Indeed it took just three minutes for the home side to create an opening, and it was Anthony Elding who should have done better when he found himself free on goal could only to drive his effort against Bees keeper Scott Tynan.
Tynan was again forced into the action in the 14th minute when he produced another vital save with a spectacular tip-over following a long-range effort from Dannie Bulman.
Stevenage did have the ball in the back of the Bees net but Dino Maamria's turn and shot on 23 minutes was disallowed for offside.
Liam Hatch was the major danger for the visitors and after seeing a shot deflected wide in the 20th minute, he looked odds on to score just before the break.
However, he was only able to chip the ball past home keeper Andy Woodman and wide of the goal.
The game was to turn in first-half stoppage time when Barnet's Dwane Lee received a straight red card for a use of the elbow.
Stevenage made the most of the added man advantage and after piling on the pressure in the second half they finally went ahead in the 58th minute when Anthony Elding provided the decisive touch following a neat move.
Barnet did hit back just minutes later when Conference hot-shot Giuliano Grazioli forced the ball home following an untidy goalmouth scramble.
But it was Stevenage who were to have the final say and when George Boyd was fouled in the area in the 64th minute it was Maamria who stepped up to blast the penalty home and seal Stevenage's credentials as play-off contenders.

Barnet 1-0 Scarborough
Nationwide Conference, Tuesday 28th December 2004 @ 15:00; Underhill Stadium Barnet super-sub Lee Roach leapt off the bench to score yet again, ending Scarborough's hope for a Happy New Year.
With 74 minutes gone the game looked to be heading to the seventh stalemate in the last eight meetings between these two sides.
Then Barnet manager Paul Fairclough introduced Roach three minutes later and Barnet were in the driving seat.
Roach had previously netted after coming on as a sub in the games against Dagenham and Redbridge and Leigh RMI.
And following a teasing cross from the left by defender Simon King he did it again, poking past Leigh Walker in the Scarborough goal.
It was no more than Barnet deserved and with better finishing the Bees could have been out of sight going into the break, though credit must go to visiting 'keeper Walker.
He produced several spectacular saves to twice deny Nick Bailey and Giuliano Grazioli.
Yet the former Sheffield United trainee was powerless to stop Dwane Lee's turn and shot from outside the area midway through the first half but unfortunately for Lee, the ball hit the post and ricocheted to safety.
Both sides had their chances in an exhilarating second half but it appeared neither had the midas touch.
Damien Batt was denied what would have been a stunning goal when Walker palmed away his rasping effoprt.
Immediately after, Barnet keeper Scott Tynan produced a similar save from Chris Senior's 20-yard piledriver, before the impressive Ian Hendon cleared Tony Hackworth's shot off the line.
Enter Roach, exit Scarborough's hopes of victory.
At the death, Dean Sinclair had a goal unfairly ruled out for offside and Grazioli should have doen better when one on one a minute later.
The home side could not add to their lead but go into the New Year sitting proudly at the top of the Conference, having already equaled last season's goal tally.

Barnet 2-1 Stevenage
Nationwide Conference, Sunday 2nd January 2005 @ 12:15; Underhill Stadium
Barnet secured the local bragging rights thanks to a late goal from Ismail Yakubu to condemn Stevenage Borough to a 2-1 defeat.
It was Boro who were the quickest out of the blocks with leading marksman Anthony Elding and Dino Maamria having two big chances to open the scoring.
Elding's first chance came after only three minutes when he was unlucky to see his header fall over the crossbar from only ten yards out. Maamria then saw his diving header easily collected by Scott Tynan.
Barnet resorted to long ball tactics which until the 33rd minute were well dealt with by Boro's defensive pairing of Jason Goodliffe and Robert Quinn.
Giuliano Grazioli then gave the Bees the lead somewhat against the run off play.
Simon Clist's hopeful long ball was latched on to by Grazioli and with his outstretched foot was able to flick the ball past keeper Andy Woodman for his 18th goal of the season.
Boro began the second half with the same vigour with which they had started the first and they earned their equaliser when substitute Brian Quailey powered his way into the box before crossing for Simon Weatherstone to slide the ball in on 49 minutes.
Grazioli nearly added a second when his shot found at the back of the net only to see his effort ruled out for offside.
The disallowed goal count was levelled up after Quailey was denied a goal when the referee brought play back for a Stevenage free-kick when surely he would have been better to have played the advantage.
Boro were then denied a penalty when Elding was pulled down on the edge of the box by Tynan.
If Stevenage were feeling bitter, then things got worse three minutes from time when Yakubu converted Nick Bailey's corner for his third goal of the season and secured Barnet's 18th league win of the campiagn.

Woking 1-1 Barnet
Nationwide Conference, Saturday 8th January 2005 @ 15:00; Kingfield Stadium
Barnet can consider themselves fortunate for taking a point from this entertaining clash and boss Paul Fairclough was not afraid to admit it.
"That was a magnificent point for us and with Carlise drawing it was very good day for Barnet Football Club," he said.
"To come to places like Woking and get a draw is a good result for us and we are very pleased."
Only a last-gasp save from Barnet goalkeeper Scott Tynan earned his side a point when it seemed they would leave Kingfield with nothing.
In truth, with the wind in their favour, the Bees had bossed the first 35 minutes and might have had more goals to show for it.
In the end they only had Lee Roach's glancing header on 10 minutes to show for their efforts.
Giuliano Grazioli, Roach again and Ben Strevens all went close with Woking keeper Shwan Jalal making a superb save in particular from Grazioli.
The game opened up in the second half with Woking coming back strongly.
Neil Smith had already flashed a header narrowly wide when Woking equalised.
Gary MacDonald headed down an Ian Selley corner towards Luke Oliver who stooped to head home from close range off the underside of the bar.
With scores level play opened up which added to the excitement.
It was Woking who came close to snatching the win, Tynan saving well from Steve Ferguson after good work from Oliver and Richards.
Jefferson Louis headed wide form another Selley corner and it took Tynan's acrobatics to deny Woking the win which their second-half showing deserved.

Barnet 1-0 Exeter
Nationwide Conference, Saturday 22nd January 2005 @ 15:00; Underhill Stadium
Giuliano Grazioli did what no Manchester United player managed to do as he scored a goal at home to Exeter City as Barnet beat their Devon opponents 1-0.
After two impressive appearances against United, it was back to the Conference for Exeter and it showed.
This full-blooded match between two of the division's top teams was always going to be settled by the odd goal. And so it proved.
While the manager of the month award tends to curse its winners, Grazioli can't get enough of the players' version.
He netted against Woking after picking up the September award and did the same against Exeter after taking December's.
After 16 minutes, Richard Graham sent a teasing ball into the Exeter danger area. Liam Hatch headed across the face of goal to Grazioli who slid in and poked home his 19th goal of the season.
He should have had a second midway through the second-half, but somehow managed to put the ball wide when it was easier to score.
Exeter battled throughout, but created little and the intensity of the previous two weeks had clearly taken its toll on their players.
As a result, Scott Tynan had a relatively quiet game in the Barnet goal, though when he was called upon he did his job in spectacular fashion.
He kept out Kezie Ibe early on and produced a wonderful point-blank save to deny Dean Moxey after 67 minutes.
Santos Gaia went close at the death with a header that flashed wide, but it was Barnet that took a step towards a return to league football.
They are now 17 points ahead and surely cannot throw this lead away.
